Plastic packages: why has the CONAI contribution risen?

Plastic packages: why has the CONAI contribution risen?

From 1 January, 2015 the obligatory environmental contribution for the disposal of plastic packages (CAC) has risen from 140 to 180 euro/ton. According to the press releases published by the Consortium for the re- cycling of plastic packages, these raises were approved in order to deal with the increase of the sums that followed the stipulation of the framework agreement ANCI-CONAI and the development of separate collection of these kinds of waste.

In short, if the collected waste increases (+11% in 2013 and +8% in 2014) also the sums paid to the municipalities increase.

CONAI points out that there is a worsening in the qualitative mix of the collected waste, that is accompanied by an increase in disposal and recycle costs. CONAI’s toll free number is available for further information and clarifications: +39 800 337799.
